The first time we visited the Plaka neighborhood, at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens, we were surprised by its bustle and joy. Its cobbled streets full of people, its variety of businesses and its eclectic atmosphere captivated us and led us to walk aimlessly to let ourselves be surprised. And boy did it amaze us, in fact, nothing left us indifferent! Despite the fact that it is one of the busiest areas of the city, its network of alleys and squares, its color and atmosphere mean that the noise becomes a travel companion rather than an inconvenience. For lovers of local shops like us, Plaka is a showcase where you can find everything, from the most authentic to the most commercial, and its greatest charm lies in this mix. Ceramics, natural sponges, amulets, costume jewellery, souvenirs, typical products such as retsina wine or sweets with dried fruits, plaster statues of gods, taverns and coffee shops full… everything comes together because everything is possible in Plaka.
The design of our Plaka esparthena combines the Hellenic tradition in its shapes (with an open heel) with the color that a neighborhood so full of life inspires us. We mix stamped teles de llengues with decorated ribbon made exclusively by Greek artisans. The result is a fresh, fun and comfortable espadrille for walking freely through places as surprising as Plaka.
